Aerial Stalker Sentenced to Six Months in Jail

BALLSTON SPA, NY – For years, Michael Arnold, a 65-year-old pilot, was suspected of using his small plane to stalk a Schuylerville woman he met when she served him soup in a local restaurant.

On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to felony criminal contempt. He admitted violating a court order that forbade him from having contact with the woman.

He will be ordered to serve a six-month jail sentence Aug. 6 when he appears before visiting Hamilton County Judge Tatiana Coffinger. Arnold has been jailed since January and will be released June 1. The judge also will sentence him to five years of post-release supervision under the terms of his plea deal with prosecutors...

He's also faced charges in Bennington, Vt., where authorities accused him of violating an order forbidding him from flying a plane.
